JOB DESCRIPTION
Oversees the Agri-Surveys Department. Agronomist with solid knowledge and experience in pineapple production (general agronomy, crop protection, fruit quality, soil tillage and soil drainage, among others), surveys and samplings carried out in pineapple fields, data management, data analysis, and elaboration of reports. The Senior Manager is responsible for allocating economic and human resources to comply with the work program of the Agri-Surveys Department. Monitors and controls the operation of the Agri-Surveys Department to ensure the required outcomes in Dole Philippines Inc. (Dolefil).
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITY
· Develops standard operating procedures for agricultural surveys and samplings covering the entire pineapple crop cycle to generate robust, reliable, and accurate information for decision-making.
· Supervises and monitors the proper implementation and execution of standard operating procedures.
· Monitors the crop status, crop growth rate, pest and disease control, weed control, artificial flower induction, plant physiological disorders, and any other agronomic factor controlling plant growth, fruit yield, and fruit quality.
· Oversees the development of new technologies in data collection, plant and fruit evaluation, disease, insect pests, and weed infestation assessment.
· Assesses the effectiveness of agronomic recommendations based on experimentation once they are applied at commercial level and provides constant expert feedback to scientists as needed.
· Manages and analyses historical survey and sampling databases to aid the generation of new technical recommendations and operational decisions, among others.
· Coordinates activities and tasks to support specific experiments in joint efforts with the experimentation team to address agronomic issues or develop new technologies to reduce production costs, increase fruit yield, and improve fruit quality.
· Facilitates training to superintendents, supervisors, and surveyors on technical survey and sampling procedures.
· Elaborates, monitors, and controls the Agri-Surveys department's annual budget.
GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS
· Bachelor of Science in Agronomy, Tropical Agriculture, Horticulture, or related fields.
· Master's Degree in Agronomy is desirable.
· At least five (5) years of experience in pineapple production in large-scale operations. Experience in other crops at large plantation level will also be considered.
· Excellent ability in written and oral communication in English.
· Good background in statistical analysis and interpretation of large datasets.
· Proven skills in leading an effective team.
· Dynamic, results-oriented, and possessing a positive work attitude.
· Proficient in computer skills-Microsoft software and spread sheet. Knowledge of Geographic Information Systems (e.g., QGIS) and statistical software (e.g., R, other) is desirable.
· Driving skills with valid Driver's license.
