The position is primarily responsible for designing strategies to grow bank sources. The position shall manage the proper usage of funds (loans or investments) and oversee the daily cash management of the bank. The position is also responsible for implementing funding approach to ensure the bank maintains adequate liquidity to support its operations.

Duties and Responsibilities

A. Treasury Management

  • Directs the treasury front office and controls.
  • Facilitates the review and enhancement of profitability plans and productivity standards using data analytics tools to monitor and forecast funding needs.
  • Manages funding sources such as deposits and borrowing (credit lines, bonds or capital infusion) while dealing with cost of funds.
  • Oversees the daily cash flow of the bank and ensures that it can meet its due obligations.
  • Establishes and maintains business relationship with counterparties for borrowing or depositing funds.
  • Keeps abreast of the economic conditions, market trends, regulations, and industry practices that will improve the bank's liquidity position.

B. Liquidity Management

  • Leads cash flow planning, forecasting, and interest rate management to ensure effective hedging of the bank's interest rate exposure and maximize earnings from bank funds through strategic investments, deposit program development, and competitive loan pricing.
  • Monitors the bank's liquidity risk to ensure that it has sufficient liquid assets to cover short-term liabilities.
  • Recommends and executes alternative investment strategies, such as bonds and equity funds, to boost bank revenue and provide optimal value to excess funds.
  • Ensures compliance with regulatory requirements related to liquidity and forex management.
  • Manages the profitability of bank portfolio of non-fixed income assets, liquid assets, foreign exchange, and other investments.
  • Identifies liquidity risks relative to the bank's investments and lending-related activities. Creates contingency plans for potential liquidity crisis.
  • Provides regular updates on bank liquidity position to Management and to the Board of Directors.

C. Currency Trading and Management

  • Directs the bank's foreign exchange trading operations.
  • Monitors global currency markets and economic indicators. Analyzes currency trends and their impact on the bank's financial performance.
  • Executes forex trades to optimize profit margins and manage currency exposure.
  • Develops and implements strategies to manage forex risks, including currency exposure and volatility.
  • Provides forex advisory services to corporate clients, helping them manage their currency exposure.
  • Conducts regular reporting on the performance of the bank's forex portfolio, forex market conditions, trading activities, and financial results.

D. Management Leadership

  • Finalizes plans, programs, budget, and performance targets of the division.
  • Plans, directs, and coordinates all activities in the department to reach maximum level of employee productivity throughout the workforce.
  • Provides upfront leadership in supervising all direct and indirect reports and planning for their career advancement and aspirations.
  • Supervises and evaluates the performance of all direct reports.
  • Approves/schedules all vacation leaves of all direct reports.

E. Others

  • Makes recommendations on matters pertinent to business operations and other related activities.
  • Participates actively during staff meetings, training programs and other professional development work.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education: Graduate of any business-related course

Experience(s): Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in banking, treasury operations, liquidity and FX management, preferably within a financial service institution.
